Albert and the grave

"Albert og graven" (Albert and the grave) is an animated short film made as a collabrative school project between 3d, manuscript and sound design students at Høyskolen Kristiania. Our genre was "sci-fi" and this is what we created after a lot of brainstorming and idea devolping. We decided on a stop motion like art style both for the look and the animation.
The whole film is rendered using Unreal Engine. My contribution for the project are the assets pictured here, and I also did some of the rigging and animation. The Albert character is based of a concept made by another student in the group.
Ive modelled in blender, textured in substance painter, animated/rigged in maya and rendered in Unreal.

About the film:
Albert and the grave is a film about Albert who lives in a world of eternal darkness. The world has completly blocked out the sun and there are no natural lighting. Albert has lost his mother and is visiting her grave, while there he puts down the heart locker left by his mother. While Albert has left the huge parasols covering the sun rips and the sun hits the heart locker. It cracks and out grows a sunflower. Albert cares for it, but eventually the rip gets patched up and the sunflower dies from lack of sunlight.
